A story about a high school football team’s journey not only through an undefeated season but also through the breaking down of barriers between black and white people, Walt Disney Pictures’ Remember the Titans is a perfect picture of how people view themselves and those around them through what we now can call ‘schemas’ and ‘stereotypes’.Remember the Titans " produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, directed by Boaz Yakin, and released in 2000 " tells the story of the 1971 T. Williams High School (located in Alexandria, Virginia) football team, the Titans.At first refusing Boone’s offer to have him as assistant head coach, Yoast later accepts upon seeing how most of his players are willing to give up their spot in the football team if he is not around.
Weak leadership was bound to crumble under pressure. Yoast is the local coach who is headed to the Virginia Hall of fame until Boone is forced to take his job. REMEMBER THE TITANS In Boaz Yakin's Remember the Titans, football becomes the force that is strong enough to break through the wall of prejudice. The movie Remember the Titans, deals with the issue of racism, and illustrates how one can overcome prejudice by uniting for a common cause or goal. At the school's football camp, tension builds between the white and black players, but through Coach Boone's leadership, the team comes together, and slowly unites the entire community. During their forced interaction, the white captain of the Titans (Gerry) accused one black player (Julius) of being "nothing but a pure waste of god-give talent", claiming Julius had the worst attitude he has ever seen. Remember the Titans "Remember the Titans" is a movie (based on a true story) about a football team overcoming obstacles to become a winning football team.
But with the team’s winning streak, which leaves them undefeated for the whole season, the whole town came to realize that this is not about being black or white " they learn from the team that it is indeed time to accept the changes and embrace people from different races.
The Titans became, for them, a symbol of unity and was instrumental in bringing the people of the town closer to each other, regardless of race.
We as organizational development consultants job was to oversee the change that happened in this community and to manage this change to help the people that are going through this change.
